Maven Musing: Moving Slow

I know things have been extremely quiet around here lately. And for that, I am sorry. But during that silence, I have been doing some serious soul work that has made my perspective come into a sharp focus.
I’ve been moving much more slowly the last few weeks than I had realized. I don’t think it was a conscious choice, my body and spirit simply took the reins.

I had a shocking past life awakening in the midst of the eclipse and it triggered a bright, sudden awareness of my behavior. A deep rooted pain and fear that I have carried with me for as long as I can remember with no seeming reason.
I often operate from a space of frenzy and fear. Everything felt important and if I could not do it, I was failing. In all my soul work, I still have yet to overcome this deeply rooted issue. It’s exhausting and frustrating to see myself take a step forward and be drug two steps back.
I have spoken of the importance for solitude, silence, and slowing down before. But here I was revving up and running myself down.
Until one morning, I found myself laying in bed near tears thinking about having to get up. I had nothing else to give anyone, not even myself.  I felt a shift in me that something, anything, had to change. I felt as though I was drowning.
Where most everyone else seemed to be experiencing a wild upheaval of their external lives, all of my chaos remained internal. It was unseen, and therefore, I felt I could not explain it.  Without the physical evidence, it is always difficult to get others to believe your struggle.
So I’ve been hiding from everyone, whether they may have been aware of it or not. I demanded emotional space. I cleared away physical space in my home that I felt suffocated by.
It started a new trend where I left myself say no. I had a sudden recognition that I’m not racing anyone. Things will happen as I enact them. I do wield power and must control what I can and let the rest fall away.
But it has taken active work to do so. My passivity is what leads me into over commitment. I knew if I did not make myself nearly painfully present some days, I would slip back.
I’ve been practicing, and that resulted in holding you at arms length. I was not ready to share or push things along.  My own fears muddled things and I no longer feel called to do things just for the sake of saying I “did something”.
So I thank you for sticking around and checking in.  My Hermit days have brought me much clarity.
All my love,
Kat

Tarot Forecast: 06.25-07.01.2018

Hello loves! Last week got away from me, so I’m back this week with a vengeance.
But, before that, how was your weekend!? My husband and I got to head off to Buena Vista for a long weekend and beautiful wedding. I am truly surprised at how many moments I felt pure peace and happiness. We had a small room right on the Arkansas river and just listening to it in pure silence put my spirit at ease. Do you have any favorite places that always seem to calm your soul?
But now that we’re back to our 9-5s, its time to actually prepare for the week. Sometimes, I really feel like I should do these on a Sunday, but something about facing the chaos of Monday and actually seeing where the week may be heading brings my readings so much more insight into what I’ll be dealing with.

This week, is going to be an interesting one. There is a full moon on Wednesday, so some of us may be feeling entirely exhausted and others will be feeling inspired and ready to take on the world. I always love how we all wax&wane with her in different ways.
1. What energy do we need to channel this week?
Five of Sea [five of cups]:: we will be facing some disappointments this week. Things do not always go our way no matter how hard we try to manifest them in our favor. Face each moment with the knowledge that while your pride may be hurt, it shall only last a moment. You can begin again the next day.
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for?
Reversed Seven of Fire [seven of wands]:: due to disappointments, we may be feeling particularly defensive or we may come across other’s that feel defensive. Choose your fights carefully this week. Are you coming from a place where you know you are completely in the right? Is there anywhere you can compromise?
3. How can we overcome challenges?
Reversed Sky Tom [knight of swords]:: our hearts may be feeling more open to compassion towards those in our past. Particularly those that may have been on the receiving end of our emotional detachment or fight response. Accepting that those moments are in our past and working to move forward more positively is a sign of growth. We have all done and said things we may not be proud of, but we are capable of change and growth.
SSBC *our clarity card ::
Earth Queen [queen of pentacles]:: care for yourself and others in these moments of disappointment and failure. Being devoted to spiritual practice means facing all of who we were and are. But that does not mean that we are undeserving of love and care. Hold space for those that need it, and find those that will hold space for you when you do not feel your strongest this week.

Tarot Forecast – 05.28 – 06.03.2018

Happy Memorial Day, witches!
We were lucky to have the day off this week to enjoy the long weekend. After some adventuring out in Estes Park on Saturday, the husband and I spent almost all of Sunday relaxing and staying cozy indoors.
My dear friend Frankie, from Articulate Witch, spent most of today with me being productive. I finally got the chance to introduce her to one of my favorite podcasts, King Falls AM, and I am so hoping she loves it as much as I do. You should really check it out on Spotify. They just went on their first hiatus in three years, so now is the time to catch up!
Let me know how your weekend was! Did you go on any adventures?
Now let’s get into preparing for the coming week.
1. What energy do we need to channel?
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for?
3. How can we overcome challenges?
* SSBC – Super Secret Bottom Card; our clarity message
20180528_1254184147672462749758630.jpg
1. What energy do we need to channel? The Priestess
The Priestess trusts in her own power. Surrounded by amethyst in her cave, she looks within for guidance. She is a reminder that we must trust our own intuition and knowledge.
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for? Reversed The World
Reversed, the World card reminds us that all things come to their end, naturally or otherwise. What are we holding onto that has come to its end? What are we forcing to carry on due to sentimentality or fear?
3. How can we overcome challenges this week? Reversed Ace of Sky (Swords)
There is a lack of clarity surrounding us and our plans this week. Things we have been working towards have been halted or are close to falling into chaos. What is your end goal? What is the purpose?
SSBC The Hermit
The Hermit is one of introspection and solitude. Removed from the rest of the world, our thoughts are allowed to ride up above our everyday must dos and distractions and actually evaluate our personal values and principles.
This week’s astrology is interesting as well. WIth the full moon peaking tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, there is a lot of energy surrounding it. The moon will be in Sagittarius and will be bringing in an air of ACTION. Sagittarius is a wanderer and the type to try and do and create as opportunity arises. My full moon ritual tied to the prior New Moon work will be up tomorrow as well.
Things tend to sit in that space until Friday when Mercury trines Mars and Venus trines Jupiter. Our concentration will be at a high and we will likely feel more optimistic, creative and relaxed. Friday will be a good time to take all of the plans we’ve been sorting out all week and put them into real action.
On Saturday, Venus will trine Jupiter early in the morning, so all day we’ll feel their impact. Embrace the moment and allow yourself to channel romance, relaxation, and creativity. Today is the day to flow and enjoy yourself as you see fit.
So overall, the beginning part of this week should be spent in reflection and solitude. Get really clear on your WHY and how you can best achieve those goals. Make a plan and don’t get pulled along by your chaotic thoughts or situations. The end of the week is when we will be able to channel that plan into real work and results.
As always, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Tarot Forecast – 05.21-05.27.2018

Happy Monday! I hope the weekend treated you well. If you were in CO (or anywhere else experiencing cold rain) that you stayed inside warm and cozied up. My initial plans over the weekend were to go on a small overnight backpacking trip, but I’m quite glad I trusted my gut to stay home. Trying to climb a mountain in the cold wet rain just didn’t sound like an enjoyable experience, haha.
I spent most of Sunday disconnected from the world. I managed some home chores and then allowed myself to read and rest. My spirit felt so much lighter walking into work this morning! Scheduled spiritual maintenance is going to become a staple of my weekly planning.
Speaking of planning, let’s dive into this week’s tarot forecast. It took me a moment to realize where it was going, simply due to my tired brain struggling to fire on all pistons. But once we got there, everything felt much more clear.
As always, the three questions and SSBC:
1. What energy do we need to channel?
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for?
3. How can we overcome challenges?
* SSBC – Super Secret Bottom Card; our clarity message
20180521_184239
1. What energy do we need to channel? Three of Fire (Wands) Reversed
This is an interesting one as it is less about channeling energy and more about redirecting it. We’ve begun a path that we are excited about, but suddenly found ourselves facing delays or creative blocks. This week, we need to take a step back and pause. “Look before you leap!” Take the time to look at your overall goal, and pull it apart into the smaller action items. Have you forgotten anything? What did you miss? Where is the heart of this block? Taking the time to strategize and gather more information will benefit us in the long run.
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for? Earth Kitten (Page of Pentacles)
Remember to stay focused on the task at hand because it will get you to where you need to be. It is a small part of the larger picture, so do it with care. Remain practical and optimistic, it is all a part of the journey. Trust your knowledge, skills and intuition to guide you.
3. How can we overcome challenges? Demon Cat (The Devil)
We’re going to be encouraged to stray from our path. We may feel it would just be easier to go back to “how it was”, or use old unhealthy behaviors to get our way. Change and growth is difficult, do not give in. And do not stoop to someone else’s level if they become your challenge. Face them and rise above it.
*SSBC –  Reversed Grace (Temperance)
Remember to care for yourself and show yourself some grace this week. Honor yourself as sacred. The healthy lifestyle and choices you make each day serve you to reach your highest good. You left your old ways behind for a reason. But, we all have bad days. Do not beat yourself up if you succumb to temptation. You can wake up the next morning, and work to make better choices than before.
I also did a little research on the astrology for the week. I always love BehatiLife’s weekly readings, but I’m putting my reading together before she has had a chance to upload. And to be honest, the cards have lined up quite well with the sun, moon, and stars this week.
The Moon is in Virgo this evening (Monday), so we must focus on the plan, the structure and organization of things. *Ding ding ding, Three of Fire* Keep yourself grounded but do not get too caught up and burn out. Take things one day at a time.
On Friday, Jupiter in Scorpio trines with Neptune in Pisces (which means that they meet at a 120 degree angle). Apparently this won’t happen again for another 150 years!? So, today is important. We’ll feel much more intune with our intuition and empathy. Find some time to get in touch with your higher Self – meditation, get outdoors, whatever it may be that connects you to Spirit. I’m also getting some Earth Kitten vibes with this – trusting Self and our knowledge to guide us forward.
Saturday, Venus will oppose Saturn, so we may find ourselves swinging between two extremes: pursuing pleasure and staying in control. Think “long term” about your future, but allow Venus’ to pull your Spirit towards achieving your dreams. Think, feet on the ground but your head is in the clouds. It’s all about balance to get to where you want to go.
I’d love to hear any messages you may have received as you prepared for the week. Did any card in particular stick out to you, or cause you to have a twinge of intuition?

New Moon in Taurus Ritual

I feel as if I’ve been walking through a gray cloud of fog and mist these last few weeks. Even with Aries pushing me along to create and do, it’s as if I’ve only been half awake through that process. This week has been the first in a long time where I have awoken with a clear mind and at ease spirit.
I felt called to share with you my ritual for this cycle. At the end, I felt as if I could truly stand tall, claim my space, and move forward.
Working with Taurus was quite interesting. Now I know I’m about a day late or so in sharing this, but I had no real plan for my ritual work this week. It just… happened! I have been wanting to do more natal chart work and this seemed to beckon me in as the perfect opportunity to start. Taurus is my Rising sign and having been struggling with my anxiety the last few weeks, working on my Self was an absolute must.
What you’ll need:
Journal/notebook & pen/pencil
4 candles*

Purple – inner healing and personal power

White – release, calming, grounding

Green – prosperity

Red – manifest

*if you have pre-designated candles in other colors, please feel free to use those. We all connect with colors differently.

Dried bay leaves
Cauldron or fire-safe bowl
***
Let’s begin.
Set your Sacred space however you see fit. Some may feel called to cast a circle, call in the elements or any spirits or deities. This is entirely up to you and how you will feel ready to work.
Taurus rules “I Have”. We must address our relationships, our need for things, our health, everything that we have in this physical world and how it impacts us.
In your journal, you’ll work on two sets of questions. Take as much time as you need. As always, it is important that we be honest with ourselves. Do not edit yourself, do not worry for another’s feelings. Let it all flow out of you onto the page.

1. What relationship(s) always leave me feeling drained?

2. What commitments do I have that I view only as obligation and have no emotional investment in?

3. What habits do I keep that undermine my ability to commit to the lifestyle I want?

4. What thoughts do I have about myself that are toxic? [What do you say about yourself that you would never say to a loved one?

When you feel ready, take a few small pieces of paper and write down some overall themes you came across in your writing.
Now that we’ve addressed the less positive side of “I Have”, we’ll take a look into its counterpart.

1. What relationships do I truly value? How can I foster a deeper connection with these individuals?

2. Is it possible to remove myself from commitments I have no real passion for? If not, is there any part of this obligation that you enjoy? No moment is too small. How can I encourage more of the moments I enjoy?

3. What always brings me joy? How can I incorporate that more into my lifestyle?

4. What do I value and love most about myself?

When you feel ready, write down some of the overall themes you came across in this second section on the bay leaves.
Place the four candles in a circle around your cauldron.

White, place in the direction of West..

Purple, place in the direction of North.

Red, place in the direction of East.

Green, place in the direction of South.

Light the White and Purple Candle. Say the following 3 times while burning your small paper in the cauldron.
Accepting of Self, I am embracing who I Am and my Path fully. I release myself from all preconceived expectations and unhealthy relationships and habits.
Light the Red and Green candles. Say the following 3 times while burning your bay leaves.
I am Capable. I am Worthy of Love and Affection from my Self and others. I call in abundance to my loved ones and my Self to care for all our needs.
Rest for a few moments. Enjoy the moment and allow yourself to breathe. You could take this time to meditate on any words that stuck out to you.
By my breath, I release my intentions for inner healing and acceptance into divine space.
Blow out your candles and rest. Complete the day/evening however feels best for you to care for yourself. I took a nice warm shower and read before bed.
***
Please let me know how you felt called to work with the new moon this cycle. I am feeling so inspired and grounded. I cannot wait to share with you what is to come – my alignment hasn’t yet felt this strong.
