Tarot Forecast – 05.28 – 06.03.2018

Happy Memorial Day, witches!
We were lucky to have the day off this week to enjoy the long weekend. After some adventuring out in Estes Park on Saturday, the husband and I spent almost all of Sunday relaxing and staying cozy indoors.
My dear friend Frankie, from Articulate Witch, spent most of today with me being productive. I finally got the chance to introduce her to one of my favorite podcasts, King Falls AM, and I am so hoping she loves it as much as I do. You should really check it out on Spotify. They just went on their first hiatus in three years, so now is the time to catch up!
Let me know how your weekend was! Did you go on any adventures?
Now let’s get into preparing for the coming week.
1. What energy do we need to channel?
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for?
3. How can we overcome challenges?
* SSBC – Super Secret Bottom Card; our clarity message
20180528_1254184147672462749758630.jpg
1. What energy do we need to channel? The Priestess
The Priestess trusts in her own power. Surrounded by amethyst in her cave, she looks within for guidance. She is a reminder that we must trust our own intuition and knowledge.
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for? Reversed The World
Reversed, the World card reminds us that all things come to their end, naturally or otherwise. What are we holding onto that has come to its end? What are we forcing to carry on due to sentimentality or fear?
3. How can we overcome challenges this week? Reversed Ace of Sky (Swords)
There is a lack of clarity surrounding us and our plans this week. Things we have been working towards have been halted or are close to falling into chaos. What is your end goal? What is the purpose?
SSBC The Hermit
The Hermit is one of introspection and solitude. Removed from the rest of the world, our thoughts are allowed to ride up above our everyday must dos and distractions and actually evaluate our personal values and principles.
This week’s astrology is interesting as well. WIth the full moon peaking tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, there is a lot of energy surrounding it. The moon will be in Sagittarius and will be bringing in an air of ACTION. Sagittarius is a wanderer and the type to try and do and create as opportunity arises. My full moon ritual tied to the prior New Moon work will be up tomorrow as well.
Things tend to sit in that space until Friday when Mercury trines Mars and Venus trines Jupiter. Our concentration will be at a high and we will likely feel more optimistic, creative and relaxed. Friday will be a good time to take all of the plans we’ve been sorting out all week and put them into real action.
On Saturday, Venus will trine Jupiter early in the morning, so all day we’ll feel their impact. Embrace the moment and allow yourself to channel romance, relaxation, and creativity. Today is the day to flow and enjoy yourself as you see fit.
So overall, the beginning part of this week should be spent in reflection and solitude. Get really clear on your WHY and how you can best achieve those goals. Make a plan and don’t get pulled along by your chaotic thoughts or situations. The end of the week is when we will be able to channel that plan into real work and results.
As always, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Tarot Forecast – 05.07-05.13.2018

I know. I know. It’s been a hot minute since I did a transcript of the weekly tarot forecasts. I DO try to do weekly videos within the facebook group and on Instagram however. This week, was not one of those weeks though. Life just seemed to take control and here we are on Wednesday evening, finally.
As always, I ask the same three questions to maintain consistency
What energy do we need to focus on this week?

Stars

You are being guided along your path and you will get to where you need to be. Be open to the new opportunities and experiences that may arise this week, or at least try to see situations from a refreshed perspective. This card is all about aligning with your true self and trusting yourself and your choices.

What do we need to keep an eye on?

Ten of Cups, Reversed

You’re likely going to feel very overwhelmed and drained by those around you. Even an extrovert reaches their limit at some point. Or you may feel as if something is just not quite right. You may be living or making choices in a way that do not actually align with your true self. You may question your choices and commitment to your path.

How can we overcome challenges this week?

Hermit

Take some time to yourself to refocus on your wants and needs. Wisdom comes to us in moments of quiet. If you are running around this week like a busy bee, how are you able to hear your intuition clearly?

*Super Secret Bottom Card – a clarity draw that always seems to tie everything together.

King of Swords

Do not focus too much on the intellectual, analytical side of things. Sometimes you need to trust your heart and intuition in matters. Also, do not brush aside the feelings of others as you make choices.

Let me know in the comments if this week has been testing you to get realigned. I know I am definitely feeling it.

Tarot Forecast: Jan 08 – Jan 14, 2018

Welcome to 2018!  If you’re anything like me, you usually roll into the new year in no rush. We’ve got a whole year to hit those milestones!  This year came at me like no other though.  I couldn’t breeze on in like everything was sunshine and daisies.  I hit the ground running and I’ve been determined to keep up that momentum.  I’m going to smash my goals out of the park this year.
With that in mind, I am adding weekly tarot readings back to my Sunday self care routine.  I thought I would share my readings with you!
This week’s theme, Surrender Control.  That can be a doozy for some of us.  But, while smashing goals may be at the forefront of our thoughts, we must remember that letting go is just as important. You cannot force what does not belong. Allow yourself to adapt to what comes and you’ll find the ride much smoother.

Monday & Tuesday, Jan 08 & Jan 09, are all about taking some time for yourself and recharging.  Kiddos officially go back to school this week – so now is the time to trust that their teachers are ready for them!  Take a few moments to yourself in the morning or during lunch to soak in some solitude.
Wednesday and Thursday, Jan 10 & Jan 11, just keep soaking in those quiet moments. We’re officially into the work week so if you find yourself coming back to a pile of “to dos”, take a moment to breath. Prioritize your “must dos” and close the office door if you can.  Monitoring your own energy will only benefit you.  You can’t control what must be done, so just chip away at it.
When Friday (Jan 12) comes by, it’s time to hit the restart button.  The week is gone and you should be feeling lighter with the benefit of that breathing room. If you’ve felt out of whack all week, take the time today to focus on reconnecting to divine spirit.
By Saturday & Sunday, (Jan 13 & 14), take some time to reconnect with your loved ones and seek out some companionship.  Enjoy the simple things and take it slow.
How to get through the week:  Express your truth.  While this seems to stand in contrast to Surrendering Control, I find it to be a nice support.  Don’t allow others to push you into an overwhelming position this week.  They can take a moment and step up, especially if it isn’t a dire situation.  Allow yourself to set expectations and maintain boundaries, they’ll survive without you for the moment.
Love & Light, Mavens!
Let me know how you read the cards drawn! I am always interested in other’s interpretations as they can only teach me more.

Action Challenge

When I do a tarot reading for myself, it’s usually to relax. Right before bed, I pull a few cards, ponder them for a minute, and maybe journal as well. It typically goes no further than thinking about the cards advice, and maybe subtly implementing the cards message in the few days after the reading. But using a tarot reading simply to relax is not using it to its full potential.
Lately I’ve been listening to the Biddy Tarot Podcast and something that Brigit Esselmont, the podcast’s creator, mentions fairly often is using tarot to instigate action. That is very different from how I usually use tarot, so I of course became intrigued. The basic concept seems to be that you should, when reading for yourself, treat yourself as if you were a client.
For me that means making sure that I take notes as I read the cards, and sum up the message of the cards in a helpful clear way, both things I don’t do when I am just reading for myself.
Looking to the cards for something to do rather than just something to think about turns tarot into a more powerful tool for immediate self-improvement.
I am challenging myself to pull at least one card a day for the month of December. As I reflect on that card’s advice, I pull from it something I can DO, that minute, that day, that week, to move closer to my goals.
If you’d like to follow along, or even join in, check out my Instagram @mistilneytarot and post your own pictures. If you want me to see them, tag me, @magickalmavens, and use the tag #misstilneyactionchallenge.
At the end of December, I will post an article summing up this month’s tarot challenge, and feature any your cool tarot photos! I hope you join me!

Tarot Action Challenge

Dear Miss Tilney – Anxiety & Self Care

Hello Mrs. Anxious!

Thank you so much for writing in! Your question was short and sweet.

“What is the root of my anxiety? And how do I address it?”

While this is a pretty vague question, it’s one that a lot of people, including myself, probably want answers to.
I do not feel comfortable answering this question outright, as it has to do with mental health. Many people have severe, life-impacting anxiety, and my advice won’t do much to help those people. Those of you with severe anxiety should make sure you are getting the professional help that you need. However, those with both severe anxiety and those with day-to-day worries and stress can use tarot to examine the root of their anxiety, and to do something about it.
I created two spreads to help you get at the root of your worries.
DMT - Anxiety
Because you are feeling so anxious, taking the time to do a reading should be a moment of self-care. A lot of the time, the mere act of sitting down with my tarot cards to determine a course of action can soothe my worries. I like to do readings like this around bed time so that I can wind down my day directly after. Get some tea, a snack, and light a candle. I like to play ambient noises like waterfalls or nature sounds. Shuffle the cards, and jump in.
The first spread is a modified version of the simple past/present/future spread.
The traditional past/present/future spread includes three cards. The first cards examines what in your past is influencing your current situation. The second card represents the present situation, and the third card shows you what could happen if you remain on your current path.
In the modified version, I explore where your anxiety came from, how it is manifesting itself, and what you can do about it.
The first card answers the question “What is at the root of my anxiety?” This card will help you figure out where your worries came from. This could show you the true problem that is at the root of your worry and provide the first step towards fixing the problem.
The second card answers the question “How is my worry manifesting itself?” Knowing how your anxiety is affecting you can help you recognize what behaviors and feelings are coming from your anxiety rather than from you.
The third card answers the question “What can I do to ease my anxiety?” This card will show you something that you can actually do to either solve the problem or calm you down so that you are capable of solving the problem.
The second spread is more of a back and forth chat with your tarot deck.
A lot of the time, I prefer to read for myself this way. I pull out my deck, and I shuffle for a long time. As I shuffle, I chat. I tell my deck whatever I have been worried about lately, whether it seems relevant or not. At some point, my ramblings lead me to a specific question. When I get to that point, I ask the question, and pull a card. I take notes on the card, sometimes writing down the card name and the keywords, sometimes I write a full interpretation for that card, and sometimes I ignore it for the moment. Then, I ask any other questions that pop into my head.
If I had been feeling anxious and wasn’t sure why, the first question I would ask is “am I worried about something specific?” If the answer was yes, I would then ask “what is it that I am worried about?” if the first card didn’t clearly state my concern, or “what can I do to solve the problem?” If there wasn’t anything specific that I was worried about, I might ask my deck what I could do to calm down.
For more complicated questions, I pull a couple of cards at a time. I typically finish up readings that focus on negative feelings with something more positive. I love using my Spirit Cats deck to cheer myself up and bring me a little bit of peace, but any affirmation deck or oracle deck can be used to end on a positive note. One of my favorite questions to ask that deck is “what makes me capable of handling this situation?” The deck will remind you what makes you strong, capable, and brave.
After completing the reading, I like to wind down. These readings can be a little bit stressful, as they are addressing what is stressing you out right now. Though ending on a positive note or with an affirmation deck can help me with the stress, I like to go a step further.
Like I said earlier, I probably would have done this reading right before bedtime, so I can just move right into my bedtime routine. Most nights I try to do some yoga before I go to bed, and then shower. The yoga makes me exhausted and the shower makes me sleepy, so that I actually fall asleep once I get into bed.
Thank you for writing in Mrs. Anxious! I hope this helps you figure out what is going on, and I hope it helps any of our other lovely readers with their worries as well! Happy Sunday!
