Tarot Forecast – 05.21-05.27.2018

Happy Monday! I hope the weekend treated you well. If you were in CO (or anywhere else experiencing cold rain) that you stayed inside warm and cozied up. My initial plans over the weekend were to go on a small overnight backpacking trip, but I’m quite glad I trusted my gut to stay home. Trying to climb a mountain in the cold wet rain just didn’t sound like an enjoyable experience, haha.
I spent most of Sunday disconnected from the world. I managed some home chores and then allowed myself to read and rest. My spirit felt so much lighter walking into work this morning! Scheduled spiritual maintenance is going to become a staple of my weekly planning.
Speaking of planning, let’s dive into this week’s tarot forecast. It took me a moment to realize where it was going, simply due to my tired brain struggling to fire on all pistons. But once we got there, everything felt much more clear.
As always, the three questions and SSBC:
1. What energy do we need to channel?
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for?
3. How can we overcome challenges?
* SSBC – Super Secret Bottom Card; our clarity message
20180521_184239
1. What energy do we need to channel? Three of Fire (Wands) Reversed
This is an interesting one as it is less about channeling energy and more about redirecting it. We’ve begun a path that we are excited about, but suddenly found ourselves facing delays or creative blocks. This week, we need to take a step back and pause. “Look before you leap!” Take the time to look at your overall goal, and pull it apart into the smaller action items. Have you forgotten anything? What did you miss? Where is the heart of this block? Taking the time to strategize and gather more information will benefit us in the long run.
2. What do we need to keep an eye out for? Earth Kitten (Page of Pentacles)
Remember to stay focused on the task at hand because it will get you to where you need to be. It is a small part of the larger picture, so do it with care. Remain practical and optimistic, it is all a part of the journey. Trust your knowledge, skills and intuition to guide you.
3. How can we overcome challenges? Demon Cat (The Devil)
We’re going to be encouraged to stray from our path. We may feel it would just be easier to go back to “how it was”, or use old unhealthy behaviors to get our way. Change and growth is difficult, do not give in. And do not stoop to someone else’s level if they become your challenge. Face them and rise above it.
*SSBC –  Reversed Grace (Temperance)
Remember to care for yourself and show yourself some grace this week. Honor yourself as sacred. The healthy lifestyle and choices you make each day serve you to reach your highest good. You left your old ways behind for a reason. But, we all have bad days. Do not beat yourself up if you succumb to temptation. You can wake up the next morning, and work to make better choices than before.
I also did a little research on the astrology for the week. I always love BehatiLife’s weekly readings, but I’m putting my reading together before she has had a chance to upload. And to be honest, the cards have lined up quite well with the sun, moon, and stars this week.
The Moon is in Virgo this evening (Monday), so we must focus on the plan, the structure and organization of things. *Ding ding ding, Three of Fire* Keep yourself grounded but do not get too caught up and burn out. Take things one day at a time.
On Friday, Jupiter in Scorpio trines with Neptune in Pisces (which means that they meet at a 120 degree angle). Apparently this won’t happen again for another 150 years!? So, today is important. We’ll feel much more intune with our intuition and empathy. Find some time to get in touch with your higher Self – meditation, get outdoors, whatever it may be that connects you to Spirit. I’m also getting some Earth Kitten vibes with this – trusting Self and our knowledge to guide us forward.
Saturday, Venus will oppose Saturn, so we may find ourselves swinging between two extremes: pursuing pleasure and staying in control. Think “long term” about your future, but allow Venus’ to pull your Spirit towards achieving your dreams. Think, feet on the ground but your head is in the clouds. It’s all about balance to get to where you want to go.
I’d love to hear any messages you may have received as you prepared for the week. Did any card in particular stick out to you, or cause you to have a twinge of intuition?

New Moon in Taurus Ritual

I feel as if I’ve been walking through a gray cloud of fog and mist these last few weeks. Even with Aries pushing me along to create and do, it’s as if I’ve only been half awake through that process. This week has been the first in a long time where I have awoken with a clear mind and at ease spirit.
I felt called to share with you my ritual for this cycle. At the end, I felt as if I could truly stand tall, claim my space, and move forward.
Working with Taurus was quite interesting. Now I know I’m about a day late or so in sharing this, but I had no real plan for my ritual work this week. It just… happened! I have been wanting to do more natal chart work and this seemed to beckon me in as the perfect opportunity to start. Taurus is my Rising sign and having been struggling with my anxiety the last few weeks, working on my Self was an absolute must.
What you’ll need:
Journal/notebook & pen/pencil
4 candles*

Purple – inner healing and personal power

White – release, calming, grounding

Green – prosperity

Red – manifest

*if you have pre-designated candles in other colors, please feel free to use those. We all connect with colors differently.

Dried bay leaves
Cauldron or fire-safe bowl
***
Let’s begin.
Set your Sacred space however you see fit. Some may feel called to cast a circle, call in the elements or any spirits or deities. This is entirely up to you and how you will feel ready to work.
Taurus rules “I Have”. We must address our relationships, our need for things, our health, everything that we have in this physical world and how it impacts us.
In your journal, you’ll work on two sets of questions. Take as much time as you need. As always, it is important that we be honest with ourselves. Do not edit yourself, do not worry for another’s feelings. Let it all flow out of you onto the page.

1. What relationship(s) always leave me feeling drained?

2. What commitments do I have that I view only as obligation and have no emotional investment in?

3. What habits do I keep that undermine my ability to commit to the lifestyle I want?

4. What thoughts do I have about myself that are toxic? [What do you say about yourself that you would never say to a loved one?

When you feel ready, take a few small pieces of paper and write down some overall themes you came across in your writing.
Now that we’ve addressed the less positive side of “I Have”, we’ll take a look into its counterpart.

1. What relationships do I truly value? How can I foster a deeper connection with these individuals?

2. Is it possible to remove myself from commitments I have no real passion for? If not, is there any part of this obligation that you enjoy? No moment is too small. How can I encourage more of the moments I enjoy?

3. What always brings me joy? How can I incorporate that more into my lifestyle?

4. What do I value and love most about myself?

When you feel ready, write down some of the overall themes you came across in this second section on the bay leaves.
Place the four candles in a circle around your cauldron.

White, place in the direction of West..

Purple, place in the direction of North.

Red, place in the direction of East.

Green, place in the direction of South.

Light the White and Purple Candle. Say the following 3 times while burning your small paper in the cauldron.
Accepting of Self, I am embracing who I Am and my Path fully. I release myself from all preconceived expectations and unhealthy relationships and habits.
Light the Red and Green candles. Say the following 3 times while burning your bay leaves.
I am Capable. I am Worthy of Love and Affection from my Self and others. I call in abundance to my loved ones and my Self to care for all our needs.
Rest for a few moments. Enjoy the moment and allow yourself to breathe. You could take this time to meditate on any words that stuck out to you.
By my breath, I release my intentions for inner healing and acceptance into divine space.
Blow out your candles and rest. Complete the day/evening however feels best for you to care for yourself. I took a nice warm shower and read before bed.

Please let me know how you felt called to work with the new moon this cycle. I am feeling so inspired and grounded. I cannot wait to share with you what is to come – my alignment hasn’t yet felt this strong.

Tarot Forecast – 05.07-05.13.2018

I know. I know. It’s been a hot minute since I did a transcript of the weekly tarot forecasts. I DO try to do weekly videos within the facebook group and on Instagram however. This week, was not one of those weeks though. Life just seemed to take control and here we are on Wednesday evening, finally.
As always, I ask the same three questions to maintain consistency
What energy do we need to focus on this week?

Stars

You are being guided along your path and you will get to where you need to be. Be open to the new opportunities and experiences that may arise this week, or at least try to see situations from a refreshed perspective. This card is all about aligning with your true self and trusting yourself and your choices.

What do we need to keep an eye on?

Ten of Cups, Reversed

You’re likely going to feel very overwhelmed and drained by those around you. Even an extrovert reaches their limit at some point. Or you may feel as if something is just not quite right. You may be living or making choices in a way that do not actually align with your true self. You may question your choices and commitment to your path.

How can we overcome challenges this week?

Hermit

Take some time to yourself to refocus on your wants and needs. Wisdom comes to us in moments of quiet. If you are running around this week like a busy bee, how are you able to hear your intuition clearly?

*Super Secret Bottom Card – a clarity draw that always seems to tie everything together.

King of Swords

Do not focus too much on the intellectual, analytical side of things. Sometimes you need to trust your heart and intuition in matters. Also, do not brush aside the feelings of others as you make choices.

Let me know in the comments if this week has been testing you to get realigned. I know I am definitely feeling it.

Everyday Witchcraft – Coloring Books

For those of us that may be doing one, all, or none of the following:
A) hiding our craft,
b) have a small altar space,
c) have a space where fresh flowers or other plants are not a feasible option,
d) feel drawn to elements or geography that is not reasonably within reach regularly or
e) just because you can!
How have I not touched on the magickalness and potential of coloring books in your craft.
Pinterest - EW - Coloring Books
That’s right. Coloring books.
I love using coloring books in my craft. I pop finished pages or one’s I want to use for specific purpose right along side tarot readings or other messages in my grimoire. Working with them in an intentional, meditative practice gives them so much focused power.
The imagery is endless. While I used to be an alright doodler, I have been so out of touch with my artistic self that I have been genuinely afraid of working in my grimoire or just… doing witchwork in general. I got caught up in this idea of what it was “supposed to look like”, based on the beautiful works from others that I follow. Coloring books take that fear right out of me. For those of us that cannot create beautiful imagery from scratch on our own we now have a creative outlet to build upon. No two pages will look the same or hold the same meaning.
Also – for those of you hiding – no one suspects a coloring book. It’s pretty. It’s just self care. You “just enjoying coloring” if anyone questions you.
So, here are are a few ideas for how to incorporate them into your own practice!

  1. Use whole pages as dedications to deities, spirits, your own divine connections.
  2. Use them in meditative practice to pour your intention out on the page with color correspondences if you can’t find the right words for what you need.
  3. Cut out planetary-based images to focus any energy you may be drawing down from a an astrological working. Pop it into your grimoire, or carry it with you in a planner or pocket to keep it with you.
  4. On hand flower petals. We’ve all seen those beautiful ceremonial flower rings on instagram. This is great if you do not have the ability to get fresh flowers but want them represented on your altar or in your working.

I’ve linked a massive color correspondence list I’ve seen floating around the tumblrsphere here.
For those of you that may need a little help narrowing things down. I pulled together a quick list of books that caught my eye in Barnes & Noble. Obviously this is not going to encompass everything, but I think it covers enough of the major areas to get you rolling.
Grayscale Landscapes
Lost Ocean
Mermaids
Enchanted Forests
Enchanted Magical Forests
Myth & Magic
Fairies & Angels
Celtic Mandalas
Flower Mandalas
Celestial Mandalas
What is your favorite “everyday” item that you love incorporating into your practice?

Why I Left My First Coven

I did not ever think that a coven would appeal to me. I shied away from Wicca because of the rules of the faith and practice. I wanted to build and create my own way. Yet, when I was invited to join a small online coven, I was excited. The leader was knowledgeable and had brought over members she trusted deeply from a prior group she had created.

I went in with little expectation. I had barely begun my own practice and was eager to learn. But practicing online, with strangers, proves to be a difficult thing over time. As one of the older members, my day to day life made it difficult to connect with them. We had wonderful conversations regarding craftwork and how witchcraft is coming further into the public eye, but we didn’t really practice together.
Pinterest - Why I Left my first coven
Now, while I didn’t learn much in the way of developing craftwork, they did help me realize the path I did want to create for myself. I realized that I no longer found myself reaching to the group to share and grow with. Which sparked me to try to overcompensate with them. I did not want to just leave the space without trying. I truly thought that if I tried to drive conversation or pose questions, challenge them more, we would grow closer. But I eventually found myself at odds with the coven leader. Not in any kind of dramatic way, we just didn’t see eye to eye any longer.

I realized that while I enjoyed the intense conversations that a few engaged in with me, it left others feeling like I was overbearing. I was too opinionated. Which now, I could see how they would get that impression. When I get excited and truly engage, I tend to prattle on and on. It’s rare that I feel safe enough to discuss things like that, so when it happens I dive on in.

There came a moment where I realized that we just weren’t a fit for one another any longer.
Leaving people while on your path does not have to be some big dramatic to-do. Sometimes, you just outgrow your friendship or no longer hold the same perspective. There is no need to burn bridges or curse them to the heavens simple because the relationship no longer suits your needs.

I swore I would never work with a coven unless it was with people I deeply connected with.

Lo and behold, within the last few months I have found some of my greatest friends that practice. We are all so different on our paths, but that diversity sparks some amazing growth. No one’s path is better or worse, accepting those differences and learning from and with them can inspire a whole new direction for you.

Be open to the relationships and opportunities that present themselves to you. You’ll find your people in time.
